Vaccination FAQs
A few of the questions parents ask us most often about their child’s vaccines.
Yes. Every vaccine on the schedule has been through years of rigorous testing and is given to millions of children worldwide. Mild side effects, a sore leg, a low fever, one cranky day, are normal signs the immune system is responding, and they settle within a day or two.
It is never too late. Missed doses do not mean starting over, the schedule simply continues from where it stopped with a catch-up plan. Bring the vaccination card to any visit and we will map out exactly what is due and when.
A low fever for a day or so is common and expected. Offer extra feeds or fluids, dress your child lightly, and use paracetamol at the weight-appropriate dose if they are uncomfortable. A high fever, a fever lasting beyond 48 hours, or a child who seems really unwell should be seen.
Yes, vaccines beyond the national schedule (such as flu, chickenpox and meningococcal) are available at the clinic. Discuss them with Dr. Sethi at any visit and he will advise which ones make sense for your child’s age and situation.
